Just spent a weekend at Her Majesty's Apology with a group of mountain bikers. Did some stunning rides and it was wonderful to return to the comfy, cosy farm house that has so much history and ambiance. Ideal place to get away with family and friends to relax — highly recommend it.

Her Majesty’s Apology is one of those rare places that instantly makes you slow down and breathe a little deeper. Steeped in history and surrounded by wide-open Free State landscapes, the farmhouse feels like stepping back into a gentler, simpler time.

The house itself is comfortable and well equipped for self-catering — everything you could possibly need for a relaxed stay. It easily accommodates a large group while still feeling warm and homely.

What made our weekend so special was the feeling of escape. Long walks, beautiful rides, quiet mornings, open space, and fresh country air — it’s the perfect place to disconnect from busy life and reconnect with the people around you.

A truly special stay, full of character, charm, and peace. We left feeling rested, grateful, and already wanting to return.

Ek, my man en ons 2 honde het by HMA kom kuier van Secunda. Van die begin af was Frané vriendelik en tegemoedkomend.
 
Ons honde het die spasie en die swem in die stroom vreeslik geniet. Die cottage is netjies en baie goed toegerus met slaapplek vir 5, en het braaigeriewe en ‘n kaggel wat die voorvertrek lekker warm gehou het terwyl ons boardgames gespeel het.
 
Baie dankie Frané vir jou gasvryheid en bereidwilligheid om te help. Ons sal HMA aanbeveel vir enigiemand!

A weekend at Her Majesty's Apology...
A must on one's bucket list! 
We were met by a friendly, hospitable hostess. 
The home was so full of history, warm and inviting. 
We did some 1st class mountain biking, hiking, catching up with family and friends around a cozy fire and chilling in the garden. 
Sundowners were spectacular! The Free State at her best.
